How to Wash Your Wig

Your Millie is real hair — treat it that way.

  • Detangle first: Always brush gently from ends upward before washing.
  • Use lukewarm water: Avoid hot water — it dries the hair.
  • Shampoo gently: Focus on the scalp/top area. Don’t scrub lengths.
  • Condition generously: Mid-lengths to ends only.
  • Rinse + repeat if needed: Keep everything smooth and downward.
  • Air dry preferred: Place on a stand — avoid rough towel drying.

For deeper repair, use a mask when needed — especially for dryness.

Maintenance & Upkeep

Consistency is what keeps your wig looking luxury.

  • Brush gently, always from the ends up
  • Avoid friction (scarves, collars, rough fabrics, part hair when wearing coat)
  • Store on a stand or in a silk bag
  • Use heat tools sparingly — always with heat protection spray
  • Refresh with a blowout or styling when needed
  • If wearing everyday wash about every three weeks
  • Refresh hairline with baby hair about once a year.
  • Avoid touching the lace at all costs. Although we use the highest quality Swiss lace, lace is delicate. You will need a lace extension around every 2 years to maintain the luxury Millie look.

A well-maintained wig doesn’t just last longer — it looks better every time you wear it.

Face Shapes and what suits you Best

The right wig enhances your natural features.

  • Oval: Almost everything works — layers, volume, center parts.
  • Round: Long layers and volume below the chin elongate the face.
  • Square: Soft waves and layers balance strong angles.
  • Heart-shaped: Volume around the jawline creates balance.
  • Long: Add width with waves, curls, or layered cuts.

The goal isn’t to change your face — it’s to complement it.

Wig Dictionary

  • Lace Top: A section at the top of the wig where hairs are individually tied to mimic a real scalp.
  • Wefts: Rows of hair sewn into the wig to add volume and structure.
  • Virgin Hair: Hair that has not been chemically processed — the highest quality.
  • Density: How full the wig is. At Millie, density is designed to look natural, not bulky.
  • Rooting: Custom coloring at the top to create depth and a more natural look.
  • Toning: Adjusting the shade of the hair to achieve the perfect color (ashy, warm, neutral).

Why your wig is tangling (and how to fix it)

Tangling doesn’t mean your wig is ruined.

It means something is off — and it’s fixable.

Why it happens

  • Friction at the nape (clothing, scarves, movement)
  • Dryness or lack of moisture
  • Product buildup
  • Overlapping or heavy wefts
  • Not brushing properly

How to fix it

  • Always brush from the ends upward
  • Use a lightweight leave-in or serum on the nape
  • Do a deep conditioning mask when needed
  • Reduce friction (silk, smoother fabrics)

How to Make Your Wig Look Like It’s Growing From Your Scalp:

The goal isn’t just to wear a wig — it’s for no one to know you are.

What creates a natural look

  • A realistic lace top
  • Proper placement along your hairline
  • Soft, natural density (not too full)
  • Subtle rooting for depth

Simple tips that change everything

  • Don’t pull the wig too far forward
  • Slightly adjust your part (not perfectly straight)
  • Add soft face-framing layers
  • Keep the front lighter and more natural

Undetectable isn’t luck. It’s detail.

The truth about wig pricing:

Wigs didn’t become expensive by accident.

What you’re actually paying for

  • Raw, high-quality virgin hair
  • Skilled construction (lace, wefts, customization)
  • Coloring, cutting, finishing
  • Brand markup

The reality

Many wigs are priced for the brand — not just the quality.

Where Millie stands

We focused on what matters:

  • Top-tier hair
  • Intentional construction
  • Transparent value

Luxury shouldn’t be inflated. It should be understood.

How to Choose the
Right Wig for You

The right wig doesn’t just look good — it feels like you.

Start with your lifestyle

  • Everyday wear → natural density, easy styling
  • Occasional wear → more styled, higher impact

Length

  • Short → lighter, easier
  • Long → more dramatic, more maintenance

Color

  • Stay close to your natural tone for the most seamless look
  • Add dimension (rooting, lowlights) for realism

Density

  • Natural always looks more luxury
  • Too full = less believable

When in doubt — go more natural, not more.
